The Murder Twystery Launch Event

‘A Wounded Pride’

On Thursday 12th February at 7:30pm at The Perranwell Centre CDDG are launching a Murder Mystery with a twist, A Twystery.

The idea is simple: the audience are seated at tables in the Main Hall of the Perranwell Centre. The compère explains that they are about to see a Murder Mystery play lasting about half an hour. During the interval of about 20 minutes each table completes a form to say who they think was the murderer.

In the interval a few musical instruments are put on each table. Then the audience watch the same play a second time. However, the compère explains there will be a number of differences of costume, props or action in the second performance that they have to spot.

When an audience member spots a difference, they use one of the musical instruments on their table to stop the play. On hearing the instrument, the actors will ‘freeze’. Points (counters) are awarded for each correct ‘spot’, and we all know points mean prizes!

The contemporary play is ‘A Wounded Pride’ written by James Oliver and directed by Bruce Austen. There are clear challenges for the actors in this performance. However, this new genre of theatre has been performed a few times before and the actors were remarkably prepared for the interruptions.

There is one main part, Lord Peter Montague; confident, assured, naturally the amateur sleuth, there are several other significant parts and some minor parts. More details below.

The performance dates are:
Get-in Thursday 9th, performances Friday 11th and Saturday 12th April, with 2 performances on the Saturday.

Rehearsals will be every Tuesday and Thursday from 24th February at 7:30pm in the South Room and 2pm on Sunday 15th March.

We do hope that you are up for this new challenge in theatre and look forward to seeing you at the Launch Night / informal auditions on Thursday 12th February at 7:30pm.
